City of king, CA - historic corridor revitalization Plan

In 2008, The City of King was awarded a Caltrans Environmental Justice Grant for strategic planning for the City's historic downtown (Historic Corridor Revitalization Plan). The Plan provides guidance and recommendations for enhancing business opportunities, jobs, shopping, and other community services and activities. In order to accomplish these goals, the Plan establishes new development standards for the construction and renovation of downtown buildings that protect the historic character and generate investment opportunity.

A major component of the Plan includes well-designed, appropriate civic improvements. As such, the Plan evaluates circulation, streetscape enhancements, and bicycle and pedestrian linkages that add value and beautify the downtown area. LWC and the City conducted a robust and inclusive public participation process that was the foundation the Plan. Community input was relied on to create a community vision that reflects the City's history, strengthens community identity, and sets the stage to maintaining and enhancing a positive visual impression.

In early 2009, LWC submitted an Environmental Justice Grant proposal to Caltrans to continue the work on the work on the Historic Corridor Revitalization Plan. The grant was approved later in the year.

In addition to the Historic Corridor Revitalization Plan, LWC has completed the following projects in the City of King:

West Broadway Master Plan
2007-2014 Housing Element (Earth Design)
Specific Plan and Code for the Downtown Addition (HDR, CMCA)
Sign Ordinance (Earth Design)
Current Planning
