City of petaluma, CA - smart rail station master plan

Lisa Wise Consulting, Inc., as part of a consultant team led by Opticos Design, Inc., was hired by the City of Petaluma to create a Station Area Master Plan to guide the development of two planned SMART station areas within the City. The Master Plan will provide a framework to guide future development and redevelopment to capitalize on rail transit, promote walkable and liveable environments within the station areas, and improve connectivity between the station sites and existing adjacent commercial, employment, and residential areas.

The planning process includes stakeholder interviews, a two-day community workshop, a community meeting, several public hearings, and regular meetings with a Citizens Advisory Committee and a Technical Advisory Committee.  

LWC is primarily focused on crafting an approach to affordable housing within the station areas and integrating historic preservation into the Master Plan standards and guidelines. In addition, LWC will contribute to strategies for zoning and infrastructure financing.
