LWC was hired by the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments to prepare a Master Plan for the Northern San Luis Obispo County Coastal Trail. LWC is part of a consultant team that is lead by Alta Planning + Design and includes SWCA, Wallace Group, and Create eNVy.

LWC is primarily focused on public outreach as well as an analysis of tourist-serving and economic development opportunities. The public outreach effort includes in-depth stakeholder interviews, coordination with a project steering committee, and workshops to engage the general public.

The project will plan for development of the SLO County portion of the California Coastal Trail (CCT) network and consider improvements to bicycle, pedestrian, and ADA accessibility. When complete, the CCT will be a continuous, interconnected public trail system along the California coast. The Northern SLO County Coastal Trail will serve as the southern gateway to the Big Sur and will be adjacent to the 18-mile long Hearst San Simeon State Park.
